Vinings has a true suburban feel with its neighborly sidewalks and the Vinings Village atmosphere. Vinings is only 4 square miles in area. Many areas claim to be Vinings, but you’ll notice the mail codes are usually Smyrna, Mableton etc.
The image of affluence, convenience and walkability are something many other neighborhood wish to emulate so they use the name “Vinings” in their title, but they are not true Vinings. We are located within 3 miles of the Governor’s Mansion, within 2 miles of the areas best private schools, yet this tiny chunk of land is in Cobb County, boasting lower taxes and a well run government.
Most homes in Vinings are single family residential. But just on the periphery of Vinings, just across the railroad tracks and along Paces Mill are townhomes, condos and smaller lot single family residences. Many of these are quite upscale as well and are typically newer in construction. Vinings homes tend to be 1960 vintage originally, but the trend in recent years has been to tear down the older homes on these wonderful lots and build residences in excess of a million dollars.
A high percentage of Vinings residents use the private schools that are so convenient to this neighborhood and as a matter of fact the big influx of new residents is after the private school announcement in April. The public schools that support the area are Teasley Elementary, Campbell Middle and High Schools. The High School now has an Int’l Baccaulareate program that is sought after and the class sizes in high school are under 15 students I’ve heard.
While Vinings is so close to the Buckhead, Midtown and Perimeter Business areas, we have our own “downtown” area as well with shops, fabulous restaurants and office buildings. Home Depot is headquartered in “greater” Vinings.
Fabulous restaurants include: The Vinings Inn, Soho, La Paz, Vinings Fish Company,The Orient Express, Mellow Mushroom Pizza, Social Vinings, Meehans, Garrisons and many others. Shopping includes: Ann Taylor, Banana Republic, Talbots, many specialty shops and restaurants.
Other amenities in Vinings include the Cochise Club which was mentioned in the introduction which a social hub especially for families with children. It has tennis and swimming, a playground and a brand new $1M club house for its members. Membership is restricted to residents here. The Vinings Club at the Overlook in Vinings has fitness, swimming and restaurant facilities.
